The Unicorn Centre provides a bespoke, nurturing and highly personalised curriculum designed specifically for lower-level complex learners. Our approach is rooted in Total Communication, recognising that every learner has a voice and that communication can take many forms, including speech, signs, symbols, objects of reference, gestures, facial expressions, AAC and sensory responses. Learning is carefully matched to each pupil’s individual developmental level, communication needs, sensory profile and EHCP outcomes, with a strong emphasis on engagement, communication, independence, emotional regulation and the development of meaningful life skills. The curriculum reflects the ethos and values of The Brier School, placing each child at the heart of their learning and promoting inclusion, respect, aspiration, belonging and achievement.
