Crystals Class is a mixed year 9, 10 and 11 group. In lessons we offer lots of different practical learning experiences as well as core skills as pupils begin to think about life after school. Pupils are supported to develop their independence within school and in preparation for life.

 

Staying safe is particularly important when moving towards greater independence so our pupils work on staying safe when out and about, personal safety and E-safety. PSHE/SRE is taught directly weekly and incidentally through a range of trips and different learning experiences. 

 

Through our carefully planned, differentiated teaching, pupils not only make progress educationally but also socially- this is made possible through us embedding social skills across the curriculum. Respecting one another and appreciating difference are also key areas which are instilled upon in our class.

 

Pupils have the opportunity to work independently and in small groups, thus encouraging both independence and team work. This culminates in providing varied learning experiences for pupils and ensuring their best possible progress.

Suggested Home Learning

There are many ways parents can extend and support their child’s learning at home. Minimal input of resources and time can still heavily influence their learning. Easy low cost activities such as regular reading at home or simple word games can support children’s basic language skills; whilst offering experiences such as exploring the local community can build a child’s understanding of the world and support a range of areas such as maths and physical development.
