Friends of The Brier (FOB) is a small team of volunteers who run our Parent Teacher Association (PTA). The FOB team raise money to hold events and activities for the pupils and families of The Brier School. Some of the events they have organised include school discos, film nights, treasure hunts and many more. The events that take place are held at The Brier School to allow our children to enjoy themselves within their school setting. Being in a familiar environment is important to our pupils as many are unable to cope with activities that take place in settings which they are unaccustomed to. These events give our pupils opportunities to enjoy life enriching experiences whilst feeling safe and avoiding anxiety.
All of the events are funded purely by money raising activities organised by the FOB team such as quiz nights and fashion shows. These activities are opened up to and well supported by members of the local community, of which most are not directly connected to The Brier School. They also receive grants and donations for raffle prizes from local businesses.
The FOB team also give up their time to provide provision to the school during events such as sports days, school proms, Christmas and Easter performances and school trips. This is done through the contribution of gifts, treats and refreshments and supporting school staff in any way they can. They also organise and assist with larger events in collaboration with other Special Schools in the Dudley Borough.
Due to COVID19 there are currently no upcoming events. However, their commitment to The Brier School remains as strong as ever and their efforts continue at a distance. They look forward to resuming their support in person as soon as it is safe to do so.
There is an FOB noticeboard in our reception area that is updated regularly with contact details, news and events. Upcoming events will also feature on this webpage along with regular tweets from @brier_school.
