Emerald Class is one of two Key Stage 3 classes in Gemstones Pod. We are following a two year curriculum cycle which ensures pupils gain a varied and exciting learning journey as they progress through Years 7 and 8. Through our carefully planned, differentiated teaching, pupils not only make progress educationally but also socially. This is made possible through us embedding social skills across the curriculum. The class will also learn ways to keep a positive mindset and develop emotional/physical well being.

 

Respecting one another and appreciating diversity are also key areas which are instilled upon within our class. During our R.E lessons we discuss beliefs and values and learn about customs from many faiths. We discuss moral behaviour and learn about British Values during our PSHE/Citizenship lessons. Pupils have the opportunity to work independently and in small groups, thus encouraging both independence and team work. The children have individual rewards and a class reward system which maintains motivation.

Suggested Home Learning

There are many ways parents can extend and support their child’s learning at home. Minimal input of resources and time can still heavily influence their learning. Easy low cost activities such as regular reading at home or simple word games can support children’s basic language skills; whilst offering experiences such as exploring the local community can build a child’s understanding of the world and support a range of areas such as maths and physical development.
